Opera start-loop after unpinning sidebar

After following this advice I unpinned the new sidebar and closed the browser (Opera Beta).

Now I cannot start it anymore. It just pops up for a few milliseconds with a white screen and closes. Then the process repeats 4 times.

How can I resolve this problem without deleting my "Preferences" file? I don't want to go through all the hassle of setting up the extensions etc. Where can I find what causes the crash?

Answering my own question:

1. I installed the Developer version
2. Copied profile from Beta to Developer
3. Started Developer: Weird behaviour started, SideBar flickering. Disable Sidebar in Settings.
4. Copied profile from Developer back to Beta
5. Beta working again! Great.

Instead of doing step 2, try using Sync.
