Yeah, some sites are whitelisted they say, but it isn't true. They whitelist specific ad-providers, not specific sites. Or why is it that I find google ads on every site I visit? Are you telling me all these sites are whitelisted? Then it wouldn't be a few whitelisted sites, but thousands of websites. The article states it wrong, I'm sorry but you are clearly mistaken.

The sad thing is that google ads on android are intrusive. They hinder the view, and for example on XDA they appear after every second post. Not only that, but there is also a google ad coming in via a slider on bottom of screen. Then there is another kind of google ad on bottom of screen sometimes, which you can close, but instead of it a google message is shown then.

We need better ad block in Opera. It's simply not good enough. I would like to forego rooting my phone again, but if I want to use Opera I simply have to. The other solution would be to run Firefox, they have working extensions.

Because google.com is white-listed so ads from Google will not be blocked?

No, but they may contain ads from white-listed pages/domains.

          Nice quoting.

Anyway, for everyone sick and tired of ads coming through in Opera for Android, just switch to Opera mini. I've never tried it before but apparently all ads get blocked with it, including the annoying google ads.

The simple thing would be to allow extensions from opera desktop to be used on opers mobile. Then we could use 3rd party adblock. They're both chrome-based, so not sure why desktop allows extensions/addons/whatever, and opera mobile does not

I agree. There is a browser for android called yandex browser that is chromium based and allows extensions to be installed. They even use the opera extensions site as their extensions web store, although you can also install extensions from the chrome web store as well. Why opera doesn't do it as well is beyond me.

It would be great to add custom filters for Opera adblock

Data saving > turn off ad blocking.

Disable Google from exeptions, if Opera for Android has that option and / or Use F-Droid and AdAway.

I don't remember If needs Root.

There is no exception option on Android app.

Yes, there is no exceptions option...
I've just installed on Memu to test it and also have discovered features in ODesktop not in OAndroid and features in OAndroid not in ODesktop... ¿?

As haven't seen any ad in OperaApp nor in OMini, (I use mod Hosts file) probably using AdAway (Hosts file soft installer) will block ads also in Opera, it works for block ads in whole system.

If it's not a problem with Opera servers as mentioned above.
