Opera 22.0.1460.0 on Windows 8.1 64 bit - "Can't open user profile directory..."

This has just started happening after the update to Opera 22. Opera is my default browser, and whenever I click a link in another program - which normally would make that link open in Opera - I get the following Message box, headed "Opera":
"Can't open user profile directory, because you lack sufficient privileges. You might want to contact the administrator of this machine."
Just to be completely sure it's not something weird about my own PC, I've re-taken ownership of the entire AppData tree, and done the same with the access privileges.
Clicking on links inside Opera work perfectly
Before I report this as a bug, has anyone else noticed this?
Thanks.
Steve

The bug database is private, only available for some testers.

Although I have several options, I really hate to have to change my default browser until this is fixed. But I have to click through from email many times each day.
How will I know when this is fixed if I am using another browser?

@modemjunkie, You can use Opera Next or Stable. The bug seems rather severe, I don't think they will let it into Next.

I see your point but it's the price to pay for be using an in-development alpha build.

You'll have to look at the changelogs. Probably it will be listed in highlights when fixed.

Current Next is a mess. I constantly got freezed tabs and not working pages.

But this thread is about the current Developer version, not the current NEXT version.

Opera user since forever, not very often needed to be here, but this one is a bummer. If I go back to stable when will I learn it is fixed?? I prefer to use developer, strangely enough, over the years, I find it more stable
BTW, I found a temporary workaround is to right click the link text, copy/paste the url.

Well, this is good to know. I went through my entire computer and changed permissions on things, including my AppData and ProgramData folders. Geez, loss of productivity is right.

This seems to have been fixed. Can anyone else who suffered the bug confirm?
Sorry, stupid question. Please ignore - we shouldn't waste each others' time confirming bug fixes. I'm happy to trust Opera.
