You can use Opera Next or Stable. The bug seems rather severe, I don't think they will let it into Next.
Current Next is a mess. I constantly got freezed tabs and not working pages.

But this thread is about the current Developer version, not the current NEXT version.

Opera user since forever, not very often needed to be here, but this one is a bummer. If I go back to stable when will I learn it is fixed?? I prefer to use developer, strangely enough, over the years, I find it more stable
BTW, I found a temporary workaround is to right click the link text, copy/paste the url.

Well, this is good to know. I went through my entire computer and changed permissions on things, including my AppData and ProgramData folders. Geez, loss of productivity is right.

This seems to have been fixed. Can anyone else who suffered the bug confirm?
Sorry, stupid question. Please ignore - we shouldn't waste each others' time confirming bug fixes. I'm happy to trust Opera.

So am I but I'm also happy to confirm it is fixed, even though I had to go to help>about to get the upgrade.

"Can't open user profile directory..." error
I fixed this by starting windows in safe mode and running opera clearing all browsing data. after reboot it worked again. It took a couple of minutes for opera to startup though. best to be patient
I tried and failed by altering permissions first as a solution. I don't think this had any impact. but MAYBE the safe mode solution won't work without it.

I have just had an issue with this bug.
It was annoying I tried everything listed on this page to try to fix it to no avail. I gave up and thought I would have to wait two days for it to resolve itself but had just updated everything so restarted my pc, tried Opera again and, hey presto, it was working again.
This bug is such a pain as I save all my passwords in Opera as I have too many to remember, this has learned me a valuable lesson, I now no longer rely soley on Opera to remember my sites and passwords.
This crash happened on 18/07/2015
