can't install because of decompression failure due to symbolic link failure

While decompressing <data.tar.xz>, Archive Manager reported: "An error occurred while extracting files."/"Filesystem does not support symbolic links."/"Close [button]". Extraction was not completed, and possibly none of it was performed. Since I had already decompressed control.tar.gz and had the file debian-binary and had as a result 8 files and one folder, it appears that nothing from data.tar.xz was decompressed and I can't install Opera. I'm running openSuse 13.2 Linux, kept evergreen. This occurred a few days ago, before the latest openSuse updates. Any suggestions besides just trying again?

OpenSUSE? Just download the RPM file. Yeah, I know, they offer you the DEB file by default, but if you go to the blog and actually open the article for the latest Stable build at the end you will find links for both formats. I think they actually have a YUM repository as well, but as someone who doesn't currently use OpenSUSE I haven't kept track of the address.
In your case I might recommend you use an RSS reader and subscribe to the Desktop blog feed so you actually get the links to the RPM files to download.
