What does this switch in Opera Mini's Advanced Settings actually do?

wouldn't mind getting messages from opera. not from 3rd parties like facebook et al.

paranoid me will keep notifications disabled, until more infos are forthcoming.

Facebook notifications are a different thing, with a different setting.

Mainly the notifications I have got are news related ones.

Didn't get any from 3rd parties so far.
