question for those who are complaining about the new Opera

There is an Opera extension you can download which then makes Opera compatible with Chrome extensions. So far, it has worked fine for me. I can go to the Chrome store with my Opera 20 and download Chrome extensions. I'm not sure i follow your complaint there.

Colderwinters, let me ask you one thing: the first version of the old opera was perfect without bugs amd with all the features (features that was added till final version 12)?

Sydneyneto, If you've followed the blog forums, the devs say they have no plans to add the things thier users have asked for, no plans at all for proper bookmarks because they say 98% of the users dont need them, which is why theres also no export bookmarks function, I have just about all my downloads from 2002 or earlier burned to disks, I can install Opera 3.0 and it will have more features than this new browser does, even when i was using 3.0 I had no gripes about it. Sydneyneto, I dont know why you are such a big fan of this new Opera, when it's usability is far less than any other browser out there, tell me what you love about this browser so much, I want to hear your talking points on what makes this new browser so great. Maybe I'm missing something but I dont think so.

Well, my story is: I had used Chorme for more than one year after I decided to leave old opera. I was using version 31 (I had know about the new opera) when everything starts. I updated Chrome to vetsion 32, and pepper flash started to lag as hell, I tried the chrome support and they are horrible (it does not help), I did and do not like firefox and internet explorer. So I tried the new opera, It was a great experience. I prefer stash over bookmarks, the new speed dial is awesome, I can browser the web without any problem (almost). I have nothing to conplain.

It's cool Sydneyneto, we all have our preferences and needs concerning browsers and other software for that matter, I would never bash Opera, I just have no use for the direction it's taking and actually I'm kinda happy about it because I found a browser I think I like alot better and looks alot better too, and I cant say I'll never come back to Opera in the future but I cant predict that either. You brought up a good topic Sydneyneto and good posts too. Right On, take care

Exactly. But then the whiners... the power-users... the self-proclaimed old guard wouldn't have anything to complain about. They want their free browser NOW and they want to dictate exactly how it should be.
Leushino, you are a tool of the highest caliber (and that is not a compliment). I - and many others - would gladly have paid to keep Presto going. Your baseless strawman accusations are becoming overbearing and tiresome. Give it a rest some time.
Resorting to name-calling is simply an indication of your own immaturity. The only real tiresome thing in the forums is the fact that whiners and complainers still "don't get it". Your whining has achieved nothing and in fact may have delayed what was already on the drawing board. And by the way: don't flatter yourself thinking I'm upset somehow by your comments. They mean nothing to me.

Name calling? Pot, meet kettle. How many times have you called us all "whiners"? How is that not "name calling"?
What's tiresome is your constant need to deride others who aren't happy with the new direction of Opera. And if you don't care, then you shouldn't even bother responding (somehow, I think you really do care, though).
And how, pray tell, did our complaints do anything to delay new features? That's really a stretch, even for you.

we wouldn't have a bookmarks bar if no body complained about bookmarks.
But they do not need to say that the new browser sucks because it does not have what they want, do they?
not everyone did. most simply change browsers without saying anything. others were dumbfounded by the omission of what they considered a standard browser feature and said so. and some went ballistic. to infer all went ballistic is simply not the case, most discord was civil. the people spoke and an appeasement was offered.

And because of those people complaining that they wanted back something faded to be past soon, probably other (more) interesting features/resources had to be delayed.
democratically, judging from the sample size of complaints offered, bookmarks were more important than "other" features to please opera's user base. the developers recognized this and acted.

The thing is, there is no way of knowing with a certainty that bookmarks wouldn't have been released anyway in spite of no complaints. Bottom line is: make feature known to the Dev team in their blogs and in a respectful manner. Calling the Devs names as many have done and demeaning the company cannot possibly result in good things.

i suspect that the stash was meant to replace bookmarks (but that's just my ignorant conjecture). myself, i never used bookmarks much (i really really miss the tab vault addon however, but that has nothing to do with opera. i need to get some of the more hysterical from opera's forum to head over to that developer's site and to press him to port it over, lol). that said, you have to understand that there are many different types of people from many different cultures here. not everyone was raised to display emotion like the british: some cultures are known for their passionate outbursts, while others for a lack of emotional response. education levels and work places differ leading to phrasing and word choices that some might consider objectionable (that said, there is a line ... but one needs to be sympathetic to a person who was taught the f-word is a verb, adjective, adverb, and a noun. for them, that is simply how they express themselves). i've volunteered for years at an homeless shelter, and i can attest that they speak differently than a school teacher (for ex.). yes, again there are limits, but not everyone's life was shaped by the same circumstances that taught us how to express ourselves. patience and understanding verses offence and judgement. and if you don't agree with me ... f-you! lol. (see, i consider that joke amusing. but many will fail to see the attempted humour and be offended).
in regard to the bookmarks, apparently is was a make-it-or-break it omission for many. i understand that some features are like that. if opera couldn't render jpeg images or play flash, most wouldn't use it. i don't know if its fair to say those users are unjustified in asking to watch you-tube.

Thank you colderwinters, I will give those browsers a try since there's nothing else to do here. Glad you stumbled on this, otherwise useless, forum where nobody that counts is listening.
Thank you for UC Browser HD too - I long for a decent browser on my iPad where Chrome keeps crashing (maybe it's company policy and Opera Mini is nothing but a backward joke on a modern mobile platform.

Comodo Ice Dragon's , a good recommendation
I agree, well worth trying. Since the demise of old Opera I've been looking for the best replacement, Ice Dragon's a front runner. The functionality of Presto is hard to replace so I'm sticking to it for as long as possible. -

coldwinters says: The Chrome extension is garbage, extensions I installed barely worked if they worked at all and none of the themes worked, most of the extensions were incompatable with opera.

I can't quite agree with you there. The extension you need to get is called Download Chrome Extension, and with it, I can go to the Chrome store, and get many extensions that work in Opera. I have found this super. Now you do have to make sure that when you install a Chrome extension, you click on the Extensions tab in the main menu, and make sure to install the Chrome extension. Otherwise, it will seem that nothing is happening and that the extension doesn't work. I suggest that people using Opera try it.
Now you complain that none of the Themes in Chrome worked. Well, a modest thought there: a theme is not an extension. If I really want to work hard, I can go to the Chrome theme, and try to use the Opera Extension, Awesome Screenshot: Capture & Annotate extension, to make it work in Opera as a Theme, but it's not worth the work. I think Opera is handling themes better than Chrome, though Chrome does provide more online themes. Opera lets you use, in addition to what Opera provides as themes, your own photos and themes. When I was using Chrome, I could only use what they provided. In terms of using my own, I have been able to find the location of all of the Windows 7 themes, and can use them in Opera as themes. Also, any jpg that you find on the web, just right click on it in Opera and instantly make it a theme. If you try that in Chrome -- as I just did -- it doesn't do it. You can build up your own collection of all time favorite jpgs to use in Opera. The Opera treatment is, in my view, better.
