My goal is to save as much bandwidth as humanly possible, as bandwidth is fast but very limited.

I'm looking for a way to block all images... that much works in Opera. However, then they are really, truly blocked, and there is no way to see them! Sometimes I do wish to see an image though, and I remember some browser + add-on having a way to view specific images. Can't find anything like that on Opera though. Setting an exception is not a reasonable alternative, because out of 100 images on a site I may be interested in one or two, and only occasionally, but on all sorts of sites.

I don't understand why the feature wasn't implemented like that... a general block is pointless.

You may need an extension to achieve what you want.

          Tried using Turbo?

Or, in Olde Opera, it works just fine.
Say, you set either no images or cached images as your default, then you can either switch it for any tab to load all the images, or you can click on an image's placeholder to show it.

Well, if one uses Turbo on Olde Opera, with images, the latter should load downsized.
Then you could either reload one in full quality or save it as such.
I've no idea if this nuOpera's Turbo would work that way or different though.
