after every startup opera mini caused almost 1.5 MB of background traffic, 1 mb of that as upload (eg data from my phone to opera).
what is going on here? what is the nature of this data exchange and why?
i believe the users deserve a honest and detailed explanation of this behavior.

I don't see any different between screenshots stable version.
I want build in bug report wizard and all settings need move to settings. we want switches first. -

@leocg:
sync off,
feeds off (start screen w/ speed dial only),
2 tabs.
will recheck the issue tomorrow (network log + csploit) but it's about the 1 MB going FROM my phone up to opera's servers.
and don't get me started on permissions.... -

Does it means that Opera doesn't check for feeds? Or Mini just doesn't show them? I really don't know.

What about something related to bookmarks or speed dials?

@leocg: nope, none of all that. just started opera mini after booting up android, phone had been off overnight. i had previously noted unusual background traffic and delays after starting opera mini, so i checked mini's traffic with networklog. and voila, 1mb up and 500 kb download by mini on an otherwise idle system. not happening every time, only when phone was off for some time.
very strange, and csploit cannot read the packages due to opera's excellent encryption. -

@leocg: all opera mini's permissions are blocked with xprivacy/xposed, except access to internet, storage and clipboard. so there should be no user data from location, contact list or apps etc accessible for upload. excessive use of permission is another grievance, but we should get this data traffic thing sorted first.

Any info on when we are going to see proper text wrap like the one in Opera for Android (auto-adjustment of text) or is it WebView's engine limitation?

Still I'm not getting any update while others can.
but after changing my location using any VPN then I've got a new update. WTF? what's goin on? -
