Video Downloaders - Firefox Bookmarks

  • Video Downloader Pro, you can take it in the opera stuff.

  • @ alvarochente - Thanks for sharing that Video Downloader Pro. What have you liked about Video Downloader Pro?

Did you try FVD Video Downloader and found it to be lacking some way?

My unscientific experiment, before I saw your post, was to download FVD Video Downloader to ascertain if it could handle a YouTube video download and it worked perfectly but perhaps there are other issues it raises or functions or other sites it doesn't play nicely with?

    Thanks again.

  • Hi All, This is a little off topic but related to Bookmarks. In Firefox, Bookmarks are stored in a folder called Profile.

Where/how are Bookmarks and saved passwords to Web sites save in Opera?

    Thanks so much!

  • Where/how are Bookmarks and saved passwords to Web sites save in Opera?

In Bookmarks and in Login Data, both stored in Opera's profile folder.

  • Hi leocg,

How do I find Opera's profile folder?

    Thanks so much.

  • How do I find Opera's profile folder?

Menu > About Opera. There you will find the path to it.

  • @ leocg - Right you are! Planning ahead, which files and folders do I need to back up in case of emergency? Is there a file or folder which stores the bookmarked web sites' passwords?
    Thanks so much!

  • which files and folders do I need to back up in case of emergency?

The best thing to do is to backup the whole folder.

Is there a file or folder which stores the bookmarked web sites' passwords?

    Login Data as said before.

  • Hi all,

I've loaded the image of my FF bookmarks toolbar folders on to this storage site as http://imgur.com/EchSAzf

I'm wondering if I can make Opera resemble FF with their folders containing bookmarks appearing across the top of the page in the toolbar so you just click on a folder and a drop down list of your bookmarks appears for that folder so you then just click on a link in that folder of your choosing to surf to a saved site as a bookmark?

    Thanks so much.

  • Hi leocg

First, thank you so very much for all your kind and patient help.

It’s been an enormous help in getting me up to speed with Opera which I’m really liking.

I hope my questions have helped others, particularly newbies like me!

I looked in Menu>Settings>Privacy and Security and found cookies but nothing specially about deleting/removing flash cookies.

Is there a way to do that with Opera or an add-on to Opera?

    Thank you again.

  • I looked in Menu>Settings>Privacy and Security and found cookies but nothing specially about deleting/removing flash cookies.

Flash cookies are cookies related to the Flash player plugin? They are probably part of the cookies for a page or domain so if you remove cookies for a site it should remove those flash cookies too.

On the other hand, since it is a plug-in it may have its own cookie storage.

Have you tried the bookmarks bar?

  • I've migrated my FF Bookmarks over but they don't appear on the bookmarks bar.

Is there a trick to placing them on the bookmarks bar after they've been migrated?

    Thanks so much.

  • Is there a trick to placing them on the bookmarks bar after they've been migrated?

Maybe you can do it in the bookmarks manager by moving/copying them to the bookmarks bar.

  • @leocg - If i visit Menu>Bookmarks>Imported Bookmarks>Imported from Firefox> it hen lists the folders but if I right click on the folder or Imported from Firefox or Imported Bookmarks I don't see a copy feature.

How exactly could I copy my FF imported bookmarks to the bookmarks bar so they appear, as in FF, across the top of the page in the Opera toolbar/bookmarks bar?

    Thanks so much.

  • don't see a copy feature.

    Ctrl +C, Ctrl + V

  • I'd tried that but it won't work as it just displays the folders but won't copy them.

Even if you select them first?

  • How does one "select" them first?

Do you mean open FF, copy all the FF folders and then paste them into the Opera bookmarks bar?

  • How does one "select" them first?

You can use the old known Ctrl + A to select them all or you can use the mouse to select a few at a time.

Do you mean open FF, copy all the FF folders and then paste them into the Opera bookmarks bar?

Nope, you do it in Opera's bookmarks manager.
