      New version of Opera?

I can't even figure out how to remove the multiple advertisements for Google in the version that I have, yet.

Listen: I've heard of Google. I can probably find it if I need to. I don't need Opera shoving it in my face.

Having said that, let me say this. Can I get rid of all references to Google on the opening screen? I'd tell you what version but I can't find that either. It's not the new one that Opera is nagging me to get, although I would get it if it doesn't have the Google problem.

      Thank you kindly.

If you mean the google search bar on the speed dial page, you can disable it on settings after enabling the power user mode.

In Opera 12.16 or earlier you can disable it in Preferences, Search, Edit, Details.

In 12.14 or earlier you can use a different default search engine.

why chromium? why? why not try Trident Layout Engine? ...

Because. Since we're not Opera developers or management, we don't have a say in the matter. And since the decision was taken well over a year ago, we have even less say. Whether we're thrilled with the decision or not, it's really time to get on with life and either use the new browser as it evolves, stay with the aging Presto version, or migrate to a different browser. Opera is not about to change course at this point...
