Why are my Google and Wikipedia default engines set to German?

I was wondering why if I type "g [search word]" or "w [search word]" I'm sent to google.de and de.wikipedia in the default search engines and I cannot change that. Nothing about my computer is German. The operating system is in American English. The browser is set to English. I'm not even surfing from Germany all that often.
And yet it assumes I wish to search for things in Google.de or the German part of Wikipedia.
Why would Opera assume that and why can't I change it? Is it because I originally downloaded it from a German IP? What is going on there? Or is there some country setting I'm unaware of that I'd have to change?

There is a high chance.
Well, it was already discussed lots of times. Edit the file Local State e change the following lines to include your country code:
"location":{"country":"br","country_from_server":"BR"
It should solve the problem.
