The Opera Mini for Android team is happy to announce the release of Opera Mini 17.
In Opera Mini 13, we added Opera's signature red color to the address bar. Now, in this version, you can choose your favorite color for the browser. There are six different themes, which are available in all 3 application layouts. Along with the color change, we've also updated the bottom navigation-bar icons.
Our data-savings mode view has also been renewed. Now, you see your data savings visualized when you tap "Data savings" entry in the main menu.
We introduced the ad blocker in the previous release and have made this feature even better. Now, you can see how many ads are blocked in the bottom-right corner as you load a page.
Please give Opera Mini a spin and leave a comment with any feedback you may have for us.

Disqus comments login doesn't work. It gets stuck at a page while trying to log in. Tried this with extreme mode off

anyway fellow indonesian...
"Itu website rasanya tidak menggunakan ads dari provider bessar, melainkan pasang sendiri, nah rules di adblock opera tidak ada otomatis tidak terblock, jadi sabar saja, soalnya sudah lumayan ada adblock dari opera tidak seberat dulu lihat beberapa website indonesia yang boros bandwith, nasib sebagai orang kuliah yang tidak punya banyak kuota" -

Excellent, I like all the new features and the look. But it would be nice to have the option to disable the ad-block counter. I don't really need to know how many are blocked on every page loaded, it's rather in the way all the time. Not a big deal but worth mentioning. Thx

hi, I don't if I'm imagining things but speed is much faster in v17 than v16, at 64kbps basic internet?
some other suggestions, the bookmarks and saved pages rectangle icons on speed dial, are rather small compared with dials rectangles - disportionately so.
in opera v7, I very frequently pressed the bookmark rectangle at the mid-section of screen (it was located there then) - so frequently that after 1/2 year, the touchscreen on that mid-level spoilt (only this area).
Suggestion: relocate bookmarks & saved pages into small icons located at top or bottom bar ie. squeeze into present bottom/top bar - saved some additional space, while re-locating to new space on touchscreen, hence hopefully prolonging touchscreen lifespan, and changing feel of menu in every new version.grateful for a free but ads-free product.

clarify bookmarks & saved pages rectangles size: their size isn't too small compared with dials squares - it's their thinness, more so conspicuous when phone font setting is small - maybe their 2 present icons/pics are rather small too ...
(imo, line edges are too thin, too sharp - maybe some line shadows + chamfering).
