Opera beta AUTO SCROLLING ISSUE

  • Hi guys. Have you ever met withthis strange behaviour of Opera?

    https://youtu.be/hkSkcaRrNus

I just opend page and opwra started to scrolling to the bottom automatically. And there was no possibility to stop it. Eben when you tap on the screen it did nothing. You can just "fight" with it by srolling in opposite direction but opera still wins.

Could you please, devs, look at it and fix it?

  • what is the link to the website?

  • @evildog1

    xperiablog.net

but it happens from tim to time, not everytime and not only on that page...

  • I can't confirm that with Opera 28. Quick tip: use tablet ui and iPad v must be served.

  • @custdemotest

i use opera beta version 36. nad it doesn't happen eveytime and it happens on unspecified pages. just randomly.

  • Check the final, beta has something extra for debugging.

  • This has happened to me twice, most recently today. I have Opera beta
36.2.2126.102826 on my HTC One M8. Btw Opera is my mobile browser of choice. Love it.

    You can do it here.

Thats a weird bug and we have been looking to reproduce, but never managed that.
Which makes it really hard to resolve, since we cannot troubleshoot an issue we never see.

It might be system specific or site specific or something else. Can you provide some reliable reproduction steps including what device and android version you are using?

    Thanks for the report.

  • my observation: it happens when one finger is detected on little part of screen (for example while holding and you are accidentally touch screen) and another finger is used for browsing

So wouldn't this happen in Chrome or another browser as well or is this only happening in Opera?

I use just opera. Don't see point to have more browsers installed. Amd maybe it's not the way how it happens... I just assume (according situations when it appeared).

  • runaway behaviour happens with opera mini as well. since moving up from mini 7 under android 4 4.2, i've seen it occasionally. maybe android's buffer for multipoint touch input causing it.

Thank god I'm not only one :-D

  • I get this issue too, it happens when i accidentally keep one finger on the screen and its acts like im selecting text, but the page will slowly scroll down, sometimes to the sides aswell, and the only way to close tab is to press back, the other option is gone when you hold the back button to exit

Its been going on for since the start of the year i believe, but i havent had this issue since i upgraded to 7.1

  • I have this problem with Opera, as well as Chrome. In fact, I get the weird runaway scrolling on the Opera Start Page. I have an Asus t100ta running win10. Windows and Opera are up to date. I have the touch screen disabled and only use the track pad.

On some pages, (as mentioned, including the Start Page), there is a huge lag when 2 finger scrolling. On this forum page, (using Opera), scrolling is smooth and linear. If I switch tabs to the Start Page, 2 finger scrolling is extremely laggy and unresponsive, and when the page does scroll, it's jerky and runaway.

If I scroll with the scroll bar on the right side of the page, there is less lag, (though still some), but it is still very jerky.

It's a very annoying problem...one of a few that it shares with Chrome.

I'll add more pages to the list as I come across them.

  • Here's another site that has laggy and unpredictable scrolling on Opera.

    It seems OK here.
