Opera not working at all

Opera build 35, Win 7 64-bit I've installed O several times over the past 4 months because I keep having the same problem. Once installed I'll open the browser to the Speed Dial screen. Regardless of which website address I type in, the browser shows that it's sending request to redir.opera.com then it spins until it times out. I've adjusted all my settings in O; I've opened both incoming and outgoing ports in Win's firewall; I've even tried shutting the firewall off completely. I've done everything I can think of and it still doesn't work.
Any ideas?

Do you have Opera Turbo enabled in the Opera menu? Try turning it off if it is.

I believe so. I've tried fresh, updated installs without linking a profile. So, if no profile = a clean profile then yes, I've tried it. Would creating a new profile really do anything useful?
Opera is acting like it's not connected to the internet at all when I clearly am. Even upon opening the browser, if I don't click the "Speed Dial" button, the initial URL - which connects to the Speed Dial page - doesn't load. Then from Speed Dial nothing loads.

I have no idea why build 35 isn't working so I installed 36 beta. It doesn't work either. Now, I'm using build 12.7. It works fine. It's funny, with all the talk throughout this website about wanting to keep Opera user friendly and functional for users, I've gotten practically now help at all; just a few suggestions with no followup replies. The Opera build team isn't any better. I tried sending a bug report to them and have received no reply. If I didn't like this browser so much, I'd give up on it entirely.

Well, as you can read here, this is an user's forum where users (try to) help each other.
I tried sending a bug report to them and have received no reply.
As clearly stated on the confirmation e-mail message you've got after have done the report, you will only get a reply if they need more info to fix the bug.
Btw, have you checked AV and firewall?

That's possible!
Depends on the software, bugs (autochecks) happen, "non-bug" autochecks (flaws), default checks you haven't noticed, etc., false positive blocking apps from whatever (internet is a common blockage), whatnot...
