Links from external programs (Outlook) open in new windows

I have the same problem as http://forums.opera.com/topic/12962/links-open-in-new-window-and-not-tab-win-10
Restarting Opera does not help; this has been happening for about a week and it got annoying pretty quickly, especially since the new windows open in the background behind Outlook (2016) when I click a link in my email. Please advise me on what to do to fix this.
Using Opera 35.0.2066.37 on Windows 10 Home 64-bit
