Google Sheets now rendering almost illegibly

  • In the last week, text in Google Sheets has started to be rendered by Opera (for Windows7 x64) like down-res'd images and is almost illegible. This occurs on both Stable (34.? & 35.0.2066.37) and Developer (36.0.2120 & 36.0.2129) versions. I have no extensions enabled and the same behaviour occurs whether Turbo is on or off. The problem doesn't exist on Chrome or Firefox.

Check out these postimg screengrabs: Opera rendering vs Chrome/Firefox rendering

BTW: Not sure if it's related but at the same time as this degradation, it's now no longer possible to paste an image from the clipboard into GMail while using Opera. Again, unlike Chrome and Firefox.

    Any ideas?

  • For the first question - ask Google. The rendering engine in Chrome and Opera is the same, so it would have to be browser sniffing. Not certain about the clipboard, but I'd guess Google on that one too.

  • That was my suspicion too. Anyone have a technical reason Chrome and Opera might behave differently in Sheets/GMail?
