Opera Version 34.0 doesn't appear to have any options either in setup or advanced setup to disable Speed Dial???
Previous versions of Opera apparently had an option 3 that could be applied to the SpeedDialState flag to disable it ... this flag doesn't show in any file or registry nor does it work from the url line.
Setting a shortcut to open Opera in a new window ("C:\Program Files\Opera\launcher.exe" --new-window) has 2 issues:
-
the very first time it runs Opera it opens 2 windows the first one which was set to about:blank (that is what I configured the start up to be) ... the 2nd window opens "SPEED DIAL"
-
if Opera is already open then only one window is open but again it opens "SPEED DIAL"
As Chrome has just announced it is discontinuing support for XP, I was hoping to still have an alternative browser to FireFox ... Opera appears to be fine in all other respects

There always a high change that Opera and others will do the same, sooner or later.
