Cannot play Netflix videos

I am using Opera 34.0.2036.25 on my Mac mini running OS X 10.8.5 and cannot watch Netflix. No problem using Firefox. Does this have something to do with the Silverlight plugin that Netflix requires?

Hi @boho18, Opera doesn't support Silverlight (because Opera is 64-bit, and Silverlight for OS X isn't), but can normally play back Netflix videos using HTML5 playback, a newer technology (the Silverlight for Mac plug-in is no longer updated by Microsoft and has effectively been deprecated).
However, unfortunately, this is not available in OS X 10.8, since the system libraries Opera uses to play back those videos weren't there yet in OS X 10.8. I'm afraid that there's no other option to play back these videos in Opera apart from updating OS X to a newer version.
