But Opera announced this "sweet tool" for modern Opera browsers, and obviously for the time after Opera link has been closed. The announcement is still visible here:

Well, that timing is disappointing! Where was the news of this tool? Is there any way to recover my Opera Link bookmarks?

Yep, about three months ago, before the closure of Link.
nd obviously for the time after Opera link has been closed
Nope, it was clearly a tool to migrate from Link to Sync before the first one was closed.

Here is what Opera wrote about old browsers:
"...If you can not upgrade to the new browser or do not wish to, your local data will remain on your machine but will not update on the Opera Link server. We recommend that you migrate your bookmarks, so you can still access them through our new service's web interface. You can find the migration tool at sync.opera.com/web/."
http://r.mails.opera.com/m0sk95qdu9nf.htmlSo bookmarks which are on an old browser, should be available using the new service's web interface - if I understand them right. But my Opera Mini (java on my old phone) does not allow to synchronize this way - or at least, I don't see how, even though I'm logged into my account.

It seems that you did not.

Yep, since Link has been closed, all Opera Presto browsers lost the sync feature. You will have to upgrade to a new phone to be able to get a new version of Opera Mini.

As already explained, the tool was to allow user to migrate their bookmarks before the closure of Link. Now that Link has been closed, there is no more data to migrate and/or to access.
