After advocating and using Opera for several years I might just be about to uninstall and walk away if I can't get this resolved.
Somehow, all of my bookmarks and speed dial have been cleared out, browsing history remains intact. I did not do anything out of the ordinary, not even a restart. Windows 7, Lenovo Thinkpad.
Any ideas? This is so disappointing.

First, your Opera version and type of the installation?
Secondly, what's your antimalware software there?
Thirdly, are you the administrator of your system? Does anyone else have access to your system, files and/or programs?

Thanks for your responses
Version: Opera 32.0
Antimal: Bullguardand yes I'm the only user of the system.
It was acting a little weird before - was on google maps and it wouldn't load properly, went black a few times. Did the same thing in Firefox and when I came back to opera speed dial and bookmarks were all gone, history intact

This is very strange.
Maybe a corrupted file? Havê you checked your HDD for for an eventual failure?
Sync was enabled?

You have one issue to troubleshoot first: Google Maps not rendering properly/screen blanking. Check Windows Event Viewer and ensure your video drivers and OS are up to date.
Did you uninstall Opera or reinstall or anything? Did you install Firefox during this process?
