I get an error message saying "Something went wrong. Synchronization has stopped because of an error. Please sign in again".

Any firewall and/or router/modem setting recent change that may be preventing the synchronisation?

And even after doing this the problem remains?

i registered, sync and reinstall windows

Did it work before the OS reinstall?

It seems another issue, not related to the one subject of this fórum.

I've been seeing the same behavior for a few weeks now. I can sign in successfully, but about 40 seconds later a little red X appears on the Synchronization icon. Clicking on it reveals the "Something went wrong" error, along with "Synchronization has stopped because of an error. Please sign in again."

Could you send me a dump of browser://sync-internals (there is "dump status" button at the top) or its screenshot?

Same problem here. "Something went wrong" after ~30 seconds. It had broke after Opera update with adding password sync (I have switched it on then and I am not able to switch it off now).

                      EDIT:
After changing password on https://auth.opera.com/account/edit-profile and resetting passphrase in Opera setting it is displaying "Connection to synchronization server is temporarily unavailable.".
This might be a progress actually. I'll wait and check if it will start working soon.

Now it works! That means that changing password helped in my case.
