Why Does Opera Automatic Updates Place New Speed Dial Entries??

  • Not a big deal, but with the new 32.0.1948.69 I get a couple new Speed Dials, one from Alibaba and another from Amazon (which I ALREADY have on my Speed Dial page) and one from booking.com and another from SurfEasy???.

Is it necessary for Opera to f*^# with my already installed data??

  • Opera needs to make money somehow and this is how they do it. Just think of it as a cost of getting a free product.

  • Oh, I found your post before I started my own thread about this. I'm glad to know it was a normal thing, anyway, and not malware related.

  • I've been trying to figure this out too. Is it really delivered with updates? I swear it's happened twice since the last time Opera updated.

  • What were the links that were added to the speed dial? If you can remember what they were we might be able to tell you. I know theres also a shortcut to add things to the speed dial (Ctrl+Shift+B iirc) and I was finding myself accidentilly adding things to the speed dial so much that I disabled it.

  • Of all the links added to mine, only one was to a site I have ever actually visited with the browser, so I don't think I accidentally added any of them.
