Can't Login to Opera account from Opera Mobile

When I attempt to login to Opera account using Opera Link from Opera Mobile version 12.10.ADR-1411061144 (Android 2.3.6), it says: "Unable to connect. Please review your network settings."

However, webpages open without problem and other applications, including very capricious PlayMarket, access internet freely.

Please kindly let me know how this can be corrected.

Is that Opera Mobile Classic or an earlier build?

It is Classic version 12.1.8.

I want to copy bookmarks and other Opera data to a newer device.

Not certain it would help, but the latest version of Classic I see is 12.1.9 ...

Unfortunately, my device - Samsung GT-S6802 - is incompatible with version 12.1.9.
