ver 31.0 does not connect (redirect)

os Windows 7 Ult, x64
opera will not connect (redirect) to any website, through speed dial homepage tiles or search engine searches or typed URLs. at lower left corner get message "requesting to redirect", after awhile page pops up "not able to connect". tried making opera default and non-default browser, gave my firewall instructions for TOTAL access. all other browsers (ie, ff, chrome) have no problems, opera on my other windows pc's works great. tried uninstalling and reinstalling several times by way of online and offline installers....did not cure problem. did manual removal of components also. have i missed something to try to get opera to connect to websites and work properly? -

tried Turbo enabled and disabled, no luck. which services should i look for to be turned on or set to automatic?
