Hi. I recently installed Opera 10.63 under Win7Pro 64bit SP1 and set the home page to about:blank. When I open Opera I get a blank page as required, but when I open a new window I get a home page with 9 tiles on it and a searchbox at the top.

How can I ensure that when opening a new window I get a blank page, the same as when opening Opera?

      Thanks in advance!

      John

You can install an extension like "opera internal pages", go to preferences editor, search for "speed dial state" and change that to 3

            Many thanks. Done.

I'm not sure if I actually had to install the Opera Internal Pages extension, though. I downloaded it, couldn't work out how to install it, went "opera:config" for the Preferences Editor, and could then change the Speed Dial state to 3 anyway. How do you install extensions, or check what you've got? I couldn't find it on any menu, but then I've got quite a lean interface.

Correct, you didn't need the extension to get the preferences editor. You can manage extensions from the "o" menu. Click on the tab in the upper left with the opera logo

Then what? The menu has got a Widgets item but not an Extensions one.

I think he is giving you instructions for a newer version of Opera. Only Opera 15+ uses extensions.

OK. But its not only 15+ that has extensions, according to wikipedia it was started with opera 11

Yeah, but they were not called extensions, they were called widgets. Opera Internal Pages is an extension for Opera 15+. It wont work in Opera 12 and earlier because they used a different extension system.

Widgets and extensions are different things.

Not true at all, I use opera 12.17 with extensions and was using extensions for a long time before opera 15 came out
