How of have OPEN choice with file download

Using Opera to access AOL web interface, the email has several JPEG attachments. When an attachment link is clicked, the next dialog is a SAVE dialog. When doing the same action using IE, the user is asked OPEN or SAVE. How do I configure Opera so that the immediate OPEN is offered. Note the same general behavior exists for other files types such as XLS which are registered by the OS and opened using the registered application when OPENed by IE, but that choice doesn't exist for Opera.
It would seem that Opera is using the link file extension (e.g., .aspx) rather than the mime type and file name provided in the download response.
