Opera 31 beta released

  • We have released a new update on the Opera for Android beta channel.

Most changes are 'under the hood' and may therefor not be immediately visible. We're also working on a number of new features, which we're quite excited about, but which are not yet available in this build. This time we have quite a short list of notable changes:

    • A Chromium upgrade to version 44
    • Stability and usability improvements

Go get it from the Google Play store.

  • After update to newest version browser dont work. Cant open any site.

    Hi

Sorry to hear that. In order for us to troubleshoot this we need some more info:

What kind of device do you have?
From what version did you upgrade from?
Where you logged in to sync, did you have many tabs open?
If you do nothing after startup, does it still freeze? or is it only when trying to load a page.
Can you open a new tab and load page from that?

Can you open a new tab and load page from that?

    • no.
  • with each update, the first time showed the logo of the opera and the inscription: optimization is updated. This time was different and it dont show.

  • @samuraj-jones, we removed the optimization text. Now we only show the spinner indicating loading.

If you were signed into sync you can try un-installing the application and installing again and signing in. The data should be stored on our servers so when you sign in you will get all your previous data. If you weren't signed in you will lose all of your data. What you could try is installing Opera for Android (not the beta) and sign in and see if your data is synced.

And btw, which version of Android are you running?

What is kinda normal for Opera for Android.

  • 21 days without a single update, c'mon guys

What is kinda normal for Opera for Android.

Is there any reason for that?

  • Opera 31 final should be approaching, but we kinda gotta wait Chromium 44 to go final first.
Unless this is an odd version Opera is skipping (there are past examples that can make us consider whether we will have a Opera 31 final or we will get Opera 32 directly).

  • Is there any reason for that?

Hmm, don't know. Probably because releasing a beta on Android (and other mobile OSs) may not be that easy as in desktop ones.

  • There are a feature o Opera mini that I would like to see in Opera browser. the new tab gallery, that is the reason I asked.

  • Hmm I'm eager to experiment it. 🙂

Download the lasted Opera mini beta and see it, it is amazing 🆙

  • Opera should have better video controlers for HTML5 (Opera uses the defaut one), Firefox for example has a better one.
