Is this one of those auto-download links/pages, or right-click > Save link as ...? Specific files/file types, specific websites, or all downloads? Disk full perhaps, or being blocked by some firewall/security software? Right now, I just don't have enough information to guess (other than the full disk or some firewall) ...

I simply right click in Opera on something I want to download from a web page, select "Save Linked Content As". It does not happen all the time, but way too regularly to allow me keep using Opera. I also have not noticed a trend in terms of the type of file. My most frequent downloads are pdf's, image files (say from Flickr where I am an active user) and occasionally a zip file or software download.
My current workaround is save the url of the web page to my clipboard, open the same page within Internet Explorer and complete the download from there.
If I have to use IE, why not use it all the time and save myself the round trip. I have been an Opera fan for a long time and would be sorry to stop using it.

It works perfectly when I try the same down load with IE. Only a problem with Opera. Opera hangs.
