In general terms ... if you enable Sync on one computer and it doesn't work, you should backup your bookmarks on other computers before stating Opera on them. That way if something does happen to bookmarks on the other computer you'll be able to recover them. They don't have backups on the server, if you don't have a backup of your own they won't be able to restore them for you.
Anne is the Link person for Opera, but if your bookmarks are already gone from the server there's little she can do.

After using Opera as a primary browser for several years I have changed to Google Chrome as primary and Firefox as secondary. Both have bookmarks and sync, something the Opera developers have failed to do even after many requests from its users.
I doubt I will be changing back to Opera in the near future. -

uhav2laf careful with Firefox I've also lost all my data because their changes in Sync. The most reliable way to keep it safe it's to backup yourself. I've learn the lesson

Hey all, So it really seem Opera has lost it. I used Opera for years as my main browser, damn it was awesome, secure, in-built email & irc client, had the sync option years before firefox or chrome was even around, could even download torrents straight off the bat and it was available for almost all OS's. Then just after version 11 it when down hill badly and it makes me sad to see Opera go like everything else. Just had to keep changing stuff and screwing with the UI and taken features out.
So version 20+ No Voice reader, ok I can live without that. All my book marks gone, ok in my case the was a work around this will not work for all people here but if you have upgraded opera and lost your bookmarks you can get the old version off the net & install it, run sync and export you book marks and reimport them to your new version (import func is in browser settings, no where near the bookmarks settings).
However where I draw the line is no master password on saved passwords, really wtf Opera I'm sure
Opera had that before firefox and you ditched it WTF!. Also when I open the settings I get a damn html page, I know most people wont care but I hate that, at least Firefox has not totally gone that way and still takes the time to make a proper UI.So after about 5 years of firefox memory draining the hell out of my computers I came back to opera ver 28.... well I have not used I.E since version 5 (98 days) but its almost starting to look good and so is Midori in linux (Midori is nice). Damn what happened. Sorry to rant but im feeling butt hurt by opera right now, it was so awesome! it was...

Hi. I have been using Opera Link on my laptop. And recently I decided to use my Opera Link's account on another computer at work. But when I enabled Opera Link on my working computer - bookmarks disappeared from both computers! Why did it happen? And what should I do? File bookmarks.adr.pre_sync did not help.
greetings!! i just had the same problem...and the solution is to go to https://link.opera.com and sign-in with your opera account which you used in opera link.. and you will find all the bookmarks you had in your opera mini except folders
relax

I agree opera was great, but all the great bits have gone. To get the speed dial back, I started using a plug in (FVD) - that company also had a bookmark sync which worked very well until my opera bookmarks started duplicating and then disappeared. Luckily the backup option of the plugin still had them from a few days prev. I decided to use firefox and it's been great for the last month or so - no missing features - but I would still like to see opera back to it's former functionality. The notes, speed dial and the bookmark manager used to be great (nicknames I used all the time). But all of a sudden it was replaced with little more than a shell of its former self. A bit like when a close friend has a nervous breakdown. I noticed market share for opera is dropping, and I'm not surprised.

Firefox is actually moving towards an 'in-content' preferences UI as well: http://i.imgur.com/SGz1Kt8.png, as is microsoft's new edge browser: http://i.imgur.com/DUYK9Oc.jpg. Its pretty standard these days.

years of bookmark cant sync. No opera link.
Opera link never worked in 8.0 for java when it was alive.
How do I carry my saved pages. Now you tell me.
Is this the way you treat.
I used to convert s/p to bookmark and that too now gone.
