Opera won't start after trying to add sycnrhonization

I have an instance of Opera (v36.0.2130.66 under Windows 7 64-bit) that was working fine for many many months.
Then, I tried to add Synchronization. I entered my account & password. It sat there, seemingly frozen.
Eventually, some number of days went by and I had to reboot, so obviously at some point I had to stop this frozen process.
Now opera won't start.
Obviously I could wipe my profile. I do not want to do this. I want it to start with the existing profile.
So how do I get it running again?

Several days? I wouldn't be that patient. I'm at work and can't check for sure, but there should be one line in a file to delete to have it forget you tried to Sync. My first guess is the file named Local State (yes, there is a space in the name) in your profile. If you're desperate you could open the file in a text editor - it is just text - and see if you can find it ... oh yeah, I'm forgetting last time I looked they had removed the line breaks, so line is no longer the right word. Well, look for Sync and see.
Oh, thread moved to Opera for Windows as more appropriate to fixing your immediate problem. Though if you want to repost in Synchronization about the freeze itself then feel free to do so.

Unfortunately, I fixed the problem without solving it. I reverted my Opera appdata to the 3rd-to-last version in windows update (after trying last, 2nd-to-last).
I then un-reverted my session file to be the most-latest version.
It worked out.
I got a working startup without missing the tabs that had changed since 3 system restores ago.
woo?
