You know what I miss from old Opera, the option to open or save.

I miss being able to open a file without downloading it. It is such a pain. You use to have the option of saving or opening. Now you have to save (download) it, and then you have to delete them.
Is there anyway to open a pdf without first downloading it.

Is it possible to save directly to trash? What would be the path?

The old versions of Opera did actually save files before opening them, as indeed they would have to, to a folder called "temporary_downloads".
They were often never automatically deleted from there either, so that folder could get pretty big!
I agree it's a bit strange that the newer versions of Opera dropped that option, but I guess it's the usual story, "security reasons".

I did not know about the Temporary Download folder. I found the folder, and it was empty. I think it must get cleaned when I run crapcleaner, but I think its been a while since I used cc, so there should be some files in there. IDK, go figure.

There is no way to open any file without downloading it first, you will always have to download even temporarily. It's valid for any program.

For PDFs you can try a pdf reader plugin , like the one that comes with Opera. If it will work or not may depend on the page.
