How do I Install Multiple Versions of Opera?

I did a forum search, but did see this info.

I have Opera 12.17 Build 1863 which is now definitely too old for many websites, but worried about a smooth transition.

Simplest solution is to keep my wonderful workhorse version 12 and learn the ins and outs of Opera 32.1948.69 which I just downloaded for offline install.

Step 1 is to completely backup my 12.17.

But then how do I insure that Opera 32 DOES NOT overwrite my stable installation with hundreds of notes and bookmarks?

Just to confirm that I installed Opera 32 without uninstalling v. 12.16 (though I did back up the latter), and that v. 32 installed to a different folder under C:\Program Files (x86)\Opera, with its preferences also going to different folders within C:\Users\Dave & Sharon\AppData\Roaming\ and C:\Users\Dave & Sharon\AppData\Local. Both programs are usable, even usable at the same time.

Opera Presto and Opera Blink use different files. Anyway, you can install Opera Blink on another folder so both versions will not have their files mixed in the same folder.

Thanks to you both for the quick responses. While waiting and found answers like yours in these forums by going to ... Google! Somehow the forum search engine didn't translate "multiple versions" correctly.

Will pick a different folder. I think I tried something like this with an old reinstall and Opera had an issue with not being in the default "Opera" directory, but it sounds like using a non-default program location shouldn't be an issue.

Looks like my waiting game paid off. I stuck with old reliable v. 12 until the whole bookmarks madness was worked out. Less than 2% of the browser market share and Opera drops their bookmarks management when none of the guys kicking their butt was doing likewise! This is the kind of out-of-box thinking that made Opera so distinct--no one else is using the type of tools integration Opera has (had?)--but they severely shot themselves in the foot this time.

It will be great to not have to switch between Opera and current browsers all the time and to run java applets again.
