Opera 33 beta released!

We are happy to announce the release of Opera 33 beta.
This time around, we've revamped the video controls with a new modern look. Please check it out and let us know what you think.
Those of you that like getting your content faster are going to love the new video compression feature. This means less buffering while watching videos. In addition, you also save on data usage.
The pull-to-refresh feature, that was introduced in the previous version, has now made its way to the Discover feature.
This release includes the following changes:
- Updated video controls
- Video compression
- Pull-to-refresh handle in the Discover feature
- A Chromium upgrade to version 46
- Various UI, stability and usability improvements
The update has been pushed to Google Play and should be available very soon. Please download Opera 33 for Android and leave us your feedback. We hope you like it!

I am getting black boxes covering various parts of content, making browsing impossible.

Hi @gena0199,
Seems like you are having issues with texture compression. We are investigating it but can't reproduce it, what kind of device are you using?
Also, could you try disabling "Tile compression heuristic". You can do this by navigating to "opera://flags" and scroll down to "Tile compression heuristic", and selecting "None".

I am using Galaxy S3. I tried your suggestion and everything is now black, even the flags page.

i have the same problem and am using my desktop i thought it was the flush player so i updated him but nothing changed it please can someone help

Ouch, ok. You probably need to clear app-data, and then go to opera://flags again and disable "Tile compression" all together. Sorry for the inconvenience.

Disabling "tile compression" seems to have "fixed" the black boxes problem. Thanks.
Strange that this is the first time i am running into this. I've run previous betas just fine before.

Somehow Opera 33 circumvent Google opt out server side settings. Googled 'eastpak backpack' and related terms result in lots a bag ads exactly from Eastpak

Sir, Why don't we have gesture support for controlling video commands like seek, volume, brightness? Only you are changing play pause icons since a long time.

Latest beta doesn't show all content in folders in portrait mode (just first six items). To show more you have to scroll folder's content or reorder folder's content or delete one of folder's content or crop from portrait to landscape mode... Can you pls finally fix it!!!
