Advertisement icons in opera mobile

Hey,
How come from time to time, random icons get added to my speed dial? Today out of the blue. I got Walmart and Nordstorm added.
I really dislike ads being added to my bookmark area and this needs to stop. I have already tried using an older version of Opera Mobile and it is still doing it.
How can I prevent this from happening?

The browser had an update today, and Opera likes to sneak in extra speed dial icons with each update. They have done this for a long time, both on mobile and on desktop. It is just a way for them to make some money. I agree it is annoying, but at least it is easy to remove them.
There is no way of preventing them from doing this as far as I know.

Yes, I get those unwanted invasive additions to my speed dials now and then as well. Seriously do they think I'm going to look at them? Thrusting stuff on you like that just creates a feeling of hostility and resistance towards them.
When I first started using Opera Mobile, around v8 on Symbian, it was a paid for software product and had none of this underhand advertising rubbish, including Discover.
Personally if Opera offered a paid for clean version of Opera Mobile without the advertising crap, I would choose that over the current ad supported version.

I agree. I am currently looking at other browsers due to this issue. I don't even update my app and it is happening. I am starting to not trust this browser.

Thanks for the question!
From time to time, we add new links on Speed Dial, and these changes are pushed to all users: typically, you'll find a mix of general interest sites as well as paying partners, and this differs from region to region. Of course, we make sure every site works well on Opera for Android before featuring them.
If you don't see any value in particular featured links, simply drag them to the trash can — that's all!

I have noticed this for a while, ads added at the bottom of my list, I recalled it pushed it twice before so I had double the amount, doesn't bother me that much just annoying that we have to remove them every time. Happens maybe every 6 or so months

These ads are more than annoying - I can no longer use Opera because some of these ad sites (eg online betting) are not suitable for my children.
End of.

Opera adding dating/porn links to my Speed Dail. This is really disgusting. Paid version should be launched.

Dating/porn? Tell them. Include your locale (country and language) and which sites you find objectionable. Anything that is either "not safe for work" or not appropriate to be adding to a child's account really shouldn't be there. I haven't seen anything like that here in the US, but I've seen mention of betting sites in the UK (which I'd consider as not appropriate for children).
Just note, it is possible that one of your extensions could add the site ...

Your using free software. The companies your using for free need money some how. To me, its not really annoying. You want to see something annoying, look at Firefox's.

I arguabley still have a valid licence from when Opera Mobile was a paid for product, without adverts masquerading as something else.
I personally don't suggest that Opera Mobile should be both free to use and free of adverts. Opera Software is afterall a commercial software developer. My point is that, like many other developers and indeed like they used to themselves, Opera should provide the option of a paid for version without advertising.

As I see here its about malware instead ads (porn thing) and "new links on Speed Dial" instead advertising.

We don't have any actual evidence of porn related links in opera, especially from someone with one post, my ad icons are alright I just don't like that ludigames by Gameloft,
Would be nice if you could be a paying subscriber of opt in for ethical adds, BBC and other news sites, -

Can you provide more details. We certainly have NOT configured anything like that on Opera for Android.
