In this website, e.g. http://www.gocomics.com/#mutable_1265416,
clicking on a cartoon should open a pop-up with an enlarged version.
It does not happen in Opera.

Which version of Opera? It seems to be working here in stable 27 and developer 29.

Go to the Opera menu and open a 'New private window'. Go to that URL in the private window and see if it works. If it does, its one of your extensions that is blocking it. Things like Adblock Plus, Disconnect, etc will probably be the source of the blocking.
