I've been using Opera for many years mainly because of the integrated mail service. However now I'm struggling to set up my POP3 email account.
      I am using:
Version: 30.0.1835.59 - Opera is up to date
      Update stream: Stable
      System: Windows 8.1 64-bit (WoW64)

I was prompted to download Opera Ni Stable, which I did.
After I installed it I rebooted my laptop however I can’t see the option to set up my mail account.
I would like to post a screenshot for you here but I don't see this option.

I am also using a separate Opera Mail app which is not integrated with the browser Opera and I do not find it as convenient as it should be when integrated with the browser.

Could you please answer my questions?

      1. How could I set up a POP3 account in my case?
      2. Where are the old good "wand" settings gone? The ones like my emails, my home address, usernames, etc. that I used to pre design in the settings and then I'd always have them appear in the fields when I was to type in web fields?

      Thank you!

P.S. Also I find it annoying that there is no option to send an email directly to the support centre and I have to post my questions in a discussion form! What a waste of time!

Opera 30 does not include a built-in mail client.

Obviously the latest possible version of Opera that includes a built-in email client is Opera.12.
It had been released 3 years ago!

I've installed Opera 12 on my laptop and it seems to come with everything I've wanted:

            • POP3 email accounts
            • auto-fill forms.

I was wondering why don't they have these features in the most recent Opera versions anymore?

Because they aren't used by the majority of users and require a lot of upkeep. In addition they built the new Opera on a different renderer and none of the previous code was compatible. So they would have had to re-program all of these little used features from scratch.

                Thank you, lando242!

For me these two are the best reasons to keep using Opera even when it was so slow and didn't work properly.

But by going with Opera 12 you're going to discover an increasing number of websites that will no longer load correctly. In addition, there will be an increasing security risk involved. Is it really worth that risk and that inconvenience?

Well, O.K. - I can't hope that Opera Mail isn't a jive. Since it's (http://www.opera.com/computer/mail) still there this induces cognitive dissonance. Overcoming that, I can try accepting that Opera Mail is abandonware. Thunderbird https://www.mozilla.org/en-US/thunderbird/ isn't abandonware, but it doesn't import from Opera Mail. Maybe I'll just Outlook Express all my old email into oblivion as a much quicker solution than figuring an import method.

I am bitching about yet another email program's demise - the death of opera mail. Bitch bitch bitch.

Dedicated email programs are dieing. Just like instant messaging programs and download managers. There isn't much need for them anymore. Even Microsoft Outlook is losing market share to web based email.
