In new opera is it possible to edit menus?
Nope.
and can I have my bookmarks bar vertical, and place on the right if I wanted to?
Afaik only if you use an extension to deal with bookmarks.
Is there panels like 12x
There will be an extensions sidebar. It's available on developer builds.
if so can it be placed on right?
Nope

We shouldn't expect it to be like the old one (at least not at this moment) because the new Opera is totally a deferent browser. It has many (and more to come I'd say) advantages over the old one. I'm sure me or the guys here can suggest something if you tell us what functionality you're after specifically.
I love the emojis here, same as always

Opera 12.17 still one of my favorite and will always be, but now I love Opera 28 even more!
Thank you Opera people.I would be very interested what properties of 12.17 you liked so much that is was your favorite browser and what properties you like even more in the new Opera.

I love the emojis here, same as alwaysThe thing is it took me many years to figure out that for me the easiest most productive way to browse is to use a vertical bookmark bar (does not take up valuable space) instead of speed dial for my most frequent visited sites, and to edit my right click menu to get rid of items I rarely use and include more frequent functions. If I encounter a site that don't display properly, I just switch to another browser. that does not happen too often so I can wait until new opera is up to speed with the things I want it to do. that includes fit to width also

Thanks. Seems I have to keep using old opera for a bit longer.

Complete customization (+easy files access) of menu, toolbar, keyboard shortcuts, mouse gestures, skins, speeddial and styles.. The built in functionalities like mail and notes.

Letting the users decide what to add as extensions is the way to go and makes the browser fast and super light
So why not using Firefox or Chrome? why Opera?
I mean it's Opera after all -

Hi,
i'm still using opera 12.17 too and as far i'm happy with it.
However, i also tested opera 28 and got a few questions, because my first impressions aren't that great about the new "better" opera.E.g.: why i can't open a new tab by clicking my mouse wheel above the tab-border? Is it just not aviable in the new browser?
I'm also missing the vertical bookmark-bar, like others do
Even the settings seems to be lesser in 28!? Maybe i didn't find them all for the first time, but then on the other side, why isn't there such a mighty window like in 12.17 where you can do all the things you want? o.O
Furthermore i had the feeling that the old 12.17 is a bit faster in starting and loading than the 28(+)?!
But that could be just a feeling. Are there any possibilites to use opeara 28 (and higher) and let it feel like the opera 12.17 in terms of comfort??
Thanks for your replies and don't judge too hard about my english

It is a new browser, they may add it and if it is really that important, you can use script or something similar to send Ctrl+T when you middle click that area

We will be having panel like, you can see that in the developer version of Opera

I personally like calling bookmarks from the main menu thoughEven the settings seems to be lesser in 28!? Maybe i didn't find them all for the first time, but then on the other side, why isn't there such a mighty window like in 12.17 where you can do all the things you want? o.O
What window :scared:
..More settings at:opera:flagsFurthermore i had the feeling that the old 12.17 is a bit faster in starting and loading than the 28(+)?!
But that could be just a feeling.Yep, it's just a feeling but Opera 12 still awesome too

Why are bookmarks and opera mail not copied automatically to the new version?

It's not a new version, from 12.17 Opera is a new browser!
Mail is now separated software
