I'm a bit of a fan of the Metro look, but I gotta say the functionality is a bit poor on that one.
Still, it's better than out of date screenshots, so I don't mind so much. I liked the icon extension that used a website's favicon.ico but I guess we'll have to wait for something stable.

My main beef with this is that it's SLOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOoooooooooooooooooooooowwwww.

How the hell does it take almost a minute to load a start page with no thumbnails and just text?

Just when I get used to something, it changes.
        Again.

Now, where are the speed dial extensions? I actually liked those.

I don't like the new startpage. It's not suitable for working "productively". Because I can't see the content from the website!

          For exmaple:
I have two different pages from one website in my speeddial. Both have the same icon. I can't see the content. I have to move over with the mouse, to see the "name" of the website.

The new startpage is bad. I hope, Opera will delete this or I hope Opera let me decide what I want to use (the old or the new startpage).

With the new startpage is Opera unusable for me! But at the moment I can use the old startpage.

You can choose which one you want, look right conor in the botton. I like the new start page because thumbnails are not useful if they are not updated.

The thumbnails.db still keeps the old thumbnails alongside the new icons so it may be a very big file now. You may want to reset it.

Personally I prefer thumbnails as with the new ones I don't know what most things are which defeats the object. They also seem to have removed the start page search option. They need to put that option back. I use that a lot as I have a lot of pages on the start page and makes finding them much faster I will not be moving to it unless that's there.

Another good point. Although it can be remedied with a bit of adaptation, through using the address field to query your saved links and having the matches appearing in the address field drop-down. It doesn't compare to the manageability and facility of using the old Speed Dial search field and seeing the results in real time all the thumbnails, folder names, and you can edit and delete any item via the search. In the address field you can't...

It's possible to get visible grouped sites in Opera beta 27.0?
That was really bad idea to set opacity about 0.2 when sites in group. I don't see any, so I must touch laptop screen with my nose ;x

I still use the old startpage. I have bookmarked several pages on Flickr, and in the new startpage I can't tell them apart. 😞
