I'm encountering this problem a lot, namely that Opera (post-chromium)'s shortcut in the taskbar stops working in Windows 7. It happens maybe every other week or so. None of the other pinned programmes I have give this error.

When I try to start it it gives the standard error message:
      "Problem with Shortcut
The item 'opera.exe' that this shortcut refers to has been changed or moved, so this shortcut will no longer work properly.
Do you want to delete this shortcut?"
I've never moved it since I installed it, and when I run Opera from the start menu, the icon lits up (still no red O) and gives the correct context menu, but if I close it down and try to start it again from the task bar, it gives the error message again.
I can of course remove it and add it again, but then it will return in a few weeks max.

Did you pin the shortcut yourself? Then it has already been reported yes. The shortcut refers to opera.exe (to a specific version) which disappears whenever there is an update. If the installer creates the shortcut, then it refers to launcher.exe which does not disappear.

Jetro, 25 posts and you didn't get the Markdown or you were in haste?

sunghouse: Not sure, I think I usually run the programme, from the official shortcut, and pin that. Will try the launcher.exe instead though.

joshl, I couldn't be bothered with Markdown since the last time I tried (and failed) using it, I was simply lazy just now. Thanks though.
