I'm really glad to announce that this morning we have released a first beta build of Opera 25, and boy, this time it's a treat!
Here's what's new:
- Bookmarks are back! (if you already have a set of βLegacy bookmarksβ these will be converted to editable bookmarks now)
- You can now edit title/URL on your Speed Dials (long-press to reach the edit function)
- Swipe up action to start a search from anywhere in your phone (Android 4.1 and above)
- The download manager has an improved overview list. You can use swipe gestures to remove items.
- Speed dial + button
- Chromium version update to 38
- Various stability and usability improvements
Update is now available on GP, please download it and leave us a feedback as usual.

Hi Bartosz, thanks for the info about the first beta for the Opera 25 - really good news about the changes \m/
Could this be possible to download this beta from the Opera's ftp servers, please? -

Can anyone tell me why off-road mode doesn't work in beta version? Opera stable version saves about 85% where beta version can't even save 10%. Another problem is beta version is giving me an error like "oops! something went wrong" while loading many pages. Tried clearing data & reinstalling which didn't work. Stable version doesn't have such problem.

These are not the mini servers you're looking for, if you play media files save more, https links can't save anything. Oopsing is normal for a while, don't kill activities or or background processes (note that some apps does that by default) since Opera doesn't loose the RAM anyway. -

- Speed dial + button
Oh-noes!
But I'm lookig forward to future plans for bookmarks and hopefully a plan to collaborae with (a new) Opera Link and Desktop Opera's new visual bookmarks.

Haha, I remember how I was upset about the previous version. Now that looks at least interesting!
Swipe up action to start a search from anywhere in your phone (Android 4.1 and above)
How?? I'm unable to perform / enable this. Considering I'm in CM's Android 4.4...
Bookmarks
Can you keep it consistent with the desktop version? You added an unremovable bookmarks tile to the Speed Dial, it makes no sense to have it there. Put it in the menu or in swipe to the right (History/SD/Bookmarks/Discover views). How will you treat the Speed Dial items' positions when sync comes back since there's no correspondent tile in the desktop version?

Swipe up for search from Android... you should be able to swipe up from bottom bar (where it's visible) - the one that has 'back', 'home' and 'apps' button.

I'm very picky.
But you did this to me! You made me always expect high quality from Opera. ^^Swipe up for search from Android... you should be able to swipe up from bottom bar (where it's visible) - the one that has 'back', 'home' and 'apps' button.
My phone has capacitive buttons. You meant the gesture for Google Now (aka "Search assistant") which I configured to long-press Home.
This shortcut to Opera from anywhere is amazing!!

Finally, very good improvments
Swipe up is only for soft key, right? I have to long-press home in Xperia S (original ROM). Thanks for the update -

Currently I've got Accept-Encoding:gzip,deflate,lzma detected via echo.opera.com and I know that lzma shouldn't be there. Any insight on this matter?

Off-road doesn't seem to save as much data as older Off-Road/Turbo which used Presto. Data savings worsened going from 82% (Presto) to 30% in the beta.
Hopefully these issues can be worked on as I get the feeling Opera wants to eventually retire the Presto servers and repurpose them for other uses.

Feels like a transparent version of Max running only for debugging purpose. -

It seems that opera takes over control of phone capacative menu and back buttons when in home or application screen. When in any other application buttons work ok.
When on home or app screen, back button doesn't work at all, and long pressing menu button opens opera. This occurs also if opera is is closed normally or force closed from apps settings.Phone samsung s2 i9100
Cyanogenmod 4.4.2 ( trebuchet launcher 1.0) -

I've checked setting for long menu long press and it's search assistent. Opera is probably default for this.
Perhaps this issue with back button isn't related to opera at all, but I've just recently start to use it again (because of the bookmarks) and notice this problem.

@karafeka
You got a background filter similar with Bigtincan app which doesn't use the local webserver. -
