How to prevent Opera from locking/bugging out inputs?

Sometimes, for some reason, Opera gets inputs on websites completely bugged - nothing can be entered into them, nothing can be copied/pasted, and they heavily lag the browser if you try those activities. It happened to me like 3-4 times since I've switched to Opera few months ago. The only way to fix it seems to be to restart the browser.
I did some typing in a <textarea> before it happened, but not sure what exactly triggered it - the text wasn't long and it was on https://webapps.stackexchange.com in question body, but it happened even without typing once, if I recall.
I've found bunch of threads mentioning it on Opera forums, e.g. this one, but they're from 2015/2016 and with no solutions.
So the more detailed questions are:
Does anyone know what is causing this exactly?
Is there any way to prevent it?
Is there any way to escape it without restarting the whole browser? -
