@leocg If you think the issue has been fixed you are wrong.

Just because it's been quiet it doesn't mean it shouldn't get more attention or that it doesn't get more attention.
This post has 25k views, keep in mind most of them are people who has the same issue as us but didn't bother creating an account to complain about it.

How about letting your higher ups know about the issue we have with the default search engine hotkeys instead of responding with that attitude?

@leocg You're right, considering this issue was brought up in this forum years ago at this point, literally nothing has been done to address it, and the moderators here have refused to offer a solution, it's clearly not worth the effort to make comments in any forum, no matter how old they are. Just because there hasn't been a post for over 5 months, does not mean the issue discussed in this forum has been addressed, so it makes sense new people are still coming here hoping to find a solution that does not exist. I wonder how many of the 25.7k people that have seen this forum discussion and not found a solution have switched to a different browser due to this issue.

@blt123 Your comment is totally unrelated to what I said, but here we go:

Moderators never refused to provide a solution, it simply doesn't exist. Also, moderators don't have solutions for everything.

Opera can decide if they will accept a suggestion or a request and it seems to me that they aren't going to implement this one.

It is just so unacceptable that this is not addressed. I want 'y' to be youtube like you can do in Literally every other browser that supports keyword searches. I'm browser shopping, and this it not making me likely to stick with Opera for long...

30k viewes on this thread and still no resolution, very annoying. How hard is it?

                  @contx Viewing doesn't mean agreeing.

if it's hard or not to implement it may depend on the contracts.

@leocg said in Allow disabling of default search engine hotkeys:

                    the contracts

I think this is a dead-end situation: Amazon, Bing, Yahoo, etc. pay Opera to be included in this feature. As long as there are B2B contracts between these companies, this situation will not change. This is the same situation as the websites (Amazon, etc.) shown on the Quick Access page when you install Opera.

The fact that there are other solutions for this, but the dev team just completely refused to implement a fix, is just crazy.
I understand these bla bla bla companies pay opera to add these, but removing this "feature" doesn't mean removing those search engines completely.
I also don't know why the mod "leocg" keeps on insisting that "It's not a bug" and "It's a suggestion and the devs may or may not accept" when it's so obvious to absolutely everyone and is without a doubt the dumbest thing we've ever seen and literally is in disbelief that this "feature" is in such a well made browser(imo).

@TheInfamousTony It's not a bug because it's working exactly how it was designed to work

This Page ist titled: "Suggestions and feature requests"
and to reiterate: everyone hates that feature and we want it optional or a way to disable it. That's all. InfamousTony never said it's a bug.
