Opera GX slows down my browsing

I’ve had a problem with Opera GX sometimes being slower than other browsers. It gets especially slow when I have too many features on, like the VPN or ad blocker. It makes browsing feel laggy, especially on my older device.
Is anyone having the same issue?

@isabella-87 By definition the VPN will slow down your connection since it routes your traffic through additional servers. If you're doing something that requires no additional data from the net - such as writing text somewhere - it should make no difference to your computee.
The ad blocker should actually speed things up, since you'll be receiving less data total.
