@LuxusLux666 You do it in the OS settings and Opera should follow it.

@LuxusLux666 If you want to set an online email service, you can do it in site settings in Opera settings.

@leocg Thanks for the answer. I keep on looking for that part in the settings, but I cannot find it or I keep overlooking it.
Could you send a screenshot of the certain site in the settings? Maybe that makes it easier for me to find it... -

@LuxusLux666 What specific email service do you want to associate with mailto links?

@LuxusLux666 In Thunderbird, click the hamburger menu at the top right, goto "Settings", scroll down to "System Integration", make sure "Always check..." is enabled, click the "Check now" button, click "Email" in the dialog that comes up and click "Set Default".

Another way to do it is to hit Windows key + r to open the run dialog, type
powershell
and press enter to open a terminal. Then, type:
Start-Process "ms-settings:defaultapps"
and press enter.
That will take to you Default Apps in settings. You can then type "thunderbird" in the search-apps field, click Thunderbird when it shows up, click "mailto', choose "Thunderbird" in the dialog that pops up and click "Set default".

Or, just click the gear icon in the Windows start menu to goto settings in Windows. Or, hit Windows key + i. Then, goto "Apps -> Default Apps", click "Thunderbird" in the list and change the default for "mailto".
