Opening new pages from a link

The one thing I really like about Safari is that when I click on a link on a page and it opens a new tab, I go to that tab. I do not understand why I click on something I want to see, but in Opera (and Chrome), I have to click on the tab to see what I want to see in the first place. Why the 2nd mouse click?

Is there a preference for that in Opera? I haven't been able to find it.

@The-Gary There isn't such setting. Maybe you can use and extension.
