Opera opening a new window randomly

I have seen other people complain but also I have tried uninstalling extensions and searching for malware, I came up with nothing, does anyone know how to fix this?

@kenkanekifrfr I've been having the same issue, a new opera page will suddenly open at around 8:50 am PST every day. I don't even use opera as my default browser, so if this keeps going without a solution I'm just gonna uninstall opera

@FilthyShrooms Is Opera the default browser? If so, try setting another one as default to see what happens.

@FilthyShrooms Do a test. While Opera is closed, open the Windows Task Scheduler, select "Task Scheduler Library", select "Opera scheduled autoupdate" and click "run" in the right-hand pane.
Does that cause Opera to start? It shouldn't. Also, test again with Opera already open to see if a new window opens. Does it? One should not.
If the task seems to be the problem, disable the task and keep it disabled for a few tabs to test if the issue stops happening. Also, look on the "triggers" tab for the task to see if the "Daily" trigger is set to the time you're seeing this happen?
Also, on the "Actions" tab, post here the full command under the "details" column.

@burnout426 Thanks! I'm not sure if that's the issue (pressing run didn't open opera), and the trigger is listed as "multiple triggers defined", but the time listed lines up. I'll disable it and see if that fixes the issue
I can't seem to copy/paste, but the details tab says:
C:\...\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera GX\launcher.exe --scheduleautoupdate --component-name=assistant --component-path="C:\...\AppData\Local\Programs\Opera GX\assistant" $(Arg0)

@FilthyShrooms That command looks like it's from the "Opera GX scheduled assistant autoupdate" task instead of the "Opera GX scheduled autoupdate" task. What's the command for the latter?
Question though. Do you also have Opera GX set to run at startup? The "Run when my computer starts" option is at the URL
opera://settings/opera-gx
. It think the option is moved toopera://settings/onStartup
if you're using the New Look option in Early Bird though.Another thing you can try is to look on the "startup" tab in the Windows Task Manager for "browser_assistant.exe" and disable it so the assistant doesn't start up when Windows starts, just in case the assistant is the problem.

Go to opera setting and scroll down to on startup and check open a specific page or set of pages is checked. It would not be check.
