I really like Opera GX so learning that only Opera One got a tab grouping feature is really disappointing, I'd really like to see that on GX too.

I recently wanted to switch to Opera GX from Chrome and noticed that the most recent Opera browser, Opera One, has tab islands, tab groups in other words.

I wanted to ask if that kind of feature could be coming to GX someday, because otherwise, I don't think I'll be switching anytime soon.
I know about Workspaces, don't get me wrong here, but the issue is that I want all the tabs to be in one place, not across multiple spaces. It feels easier for me, because I use a lot of keyboard shortcuts.

+1 from me on this! I do use Opera One already, but I wanted to switch to Opera GX. I downloaded it and loved everything about it, but I commit to the switch because it'd feel like such a downgrade to go from having tab islands/groups. I'm hoping the day will come that GX gets the tab grouping feature too

I really would love this feature too... I hope it comes to GX soon... I love the customization of GX but I need tab organization for work and research.

Here's a reply that a similar forum got from an Opera forums moderator: "When a version with that feature is released, then we will know." Very astute observation, I'll say. A thread in which they decided to close right after saying that.

If this is the type of attitude they have for adding one simple feature, thats already in their other browser, I'm not feeling too confident theyre gonna add it to GX anytime soon. They advertise the tab islands so much as a main feature for Opera, if they added it to GX then that browser wouldn't pull as many users. You would think they could pull just as much users in, maybe double, by advertising that feature in both browsers but unfortunately not.

Either way, my teeth will be grinding everytime I see Opera advertise their 'quick and sleek' tab islands feature towards me, when Im already using a browser that the same company has made but refuses to implement the feature into.

Wrong question. They don't tell us their plans or schedules. We won't know until everyone knows - which is to say, when it happens, or they publish some announcement. Until then, we would just be guessing.
