I doubt the AV will care what browser you use, but as far as choices of AV goes, I prefer Eset NOD32 AV. I've used it for years, and I trust it (as much as I trust any piece of software, in any case).

Over the years, certain AVs and their various Internet-related "features" have indeed conflicted with various brands of web browsers at times, so it's not an unknown issue. That said, I've not run across anything in the last 6 months or so indicating conflicts between Blink Opera (or other chromium-based browsers) and a particular AV. What most often seems to occur is that an update to a browser and/or an AV program feature creates a sudden weird problem that eventually gets tracked to an incompatibility between them. So keep an eye on updates to the browser and program (not signature) updates to whatever AV you choose, just in case a problem suddenly erupts.

I'm using ESET Smart Security 7 and can confirm it works well here. It's got a firewall, which plays the main part in filtering URLs for me.

I'm using MS Security Essentials on O20, and its been working fine for the last couple of weeks that I've been using this consistently, throughout the day. I'm also running Malwarebytes on my computer as well. No problems with the browser.

I use the free version of AVG and it works just fine. No need to pay for an AV in this day and age.

I tried Windows Defender but the complete scan is slow.

AVAST has an extension that works with Mozilla, but I haven't found it yet for Opera.

Yes, Windows Defender is perfectly usable with Opera. My wife uses it without any issues. I choose to use AVG but that's just a personal choice. There's nothing wrong with using Defender.

Defender can be slow... yes. In general, I only use the complete scan after an install of the program OR unless I think there might be a problem. Otherwise, I use a Quick Scan.

Windows Defender / MSE is the dotted line in that chart. I wouldn't use it.

Haven't used that, sidneyneto. I'd seriously consider either AVG free OR Avast free. Both are highly rated.

Well, a complete scan will always be slow if you have a large amount of data and, of course, depending on your hardware. The AV settings also affects it.

According to the Portuguese Wikipedia PSafe partnered with BitDefender so they use their anti-virus software in it.

It's a little old and maybe doesn't reflect how PSafe is now and your usage may be different, but it's relevant.

You dont use antivirus for any specific browser, you use it to protect you whichever browser you use and whatever else connects to the internet, To protect you from malicious emails and attachments and whatever you put into your computer such as USB flash drives, just dont use MSE, recent articles ive read say it misses 39% of malware, I got rid of MSE a while back and went to Avast free on all my computers, it even checks email and have a very good detection rate according to tests. Dont Bash Avast, if anyone prefers another antivirus thats perfectly fine.

I am afraid Psafe will make Opera slow down like Baidu Antivirus did.
