Disable browsing if VPN is not connected / does Opera make requests if VPN is on but not connected?

My use case is that there are certain sites I must present a consistent foreign country IP address to. I need a browser that includes VPN and will also refuse to make requests when the VPN is not connected (eg. VPN subscription payment failed, VPN connection issues, etc).
Is this the default behavior in Opera if the user has turned on VPN (I simply don't know how to test it), or is this possible to enforce with Opera VPN via a setting, add on, or otherwise?

As I recall, Opera's built-in VPN feature doesn't make requests to websites if the VPN is not connected. So, when you activate Opera's VPN, it encrypts your internet traffic and routes it through one of its servers in the selected region. Please correct me, if I'm wrong.

To achieve what you need, you might consider using a dedicated VPN service that includes a "kill switch" feature. A kill switch ensures that all internet traffic is blocked if the VPN connection drops, preventing any data from leaking through your regular connection. Services like NordVPN, ExpressVPN, and CyberGhost offer this feature.
